YA-Brown and Iverson give teens basic beauty tips and a large boost to their self-esteem. They set the tone with "makeunders," before-and-after color photos of young people in which a very limited amount of makeup has been applied to highlight their naturalness, and with advice that begins in bold, hot-pink letters: "YOU SHOULD STAND OUT, NOT YOUR MAKEUP." The advice is broken down into lists and bullets and accompanied by diagrams and photos. The authors stress the importance of diet and exercise.
